X Games 16 is officially underway, with Super X and Freestyle Moto X competition kicking things off. Being held this year in a different venue, the LA Coliseum was the site of one of the very first Supercross races ever held, called the Superbowl of Motocross back in 1972. The X Games crew paid homage to the historic race by integrating the infamous peristyle section that runs the riders up and down the bleachers, also placing the start gate at the top of the hill for a more BMX-style downhill start.
