Viktor Vranckx the newest driver to debut in Nitrocross’ top class.

Rising rally driving star Viktor Vranckx, from Belgium, is set to join the Nitrocross field to face off against the best rallycross drivers in the world this year, including the legendary Travis Pastrana (USA), defending 2022-23 Group E winner Robin Larsson (SWE), and European Rallycross champion Andreas Bakkerud (NOR).

The VMV Racing team is stepping up to Nitrocross with a two-car effort in the series’ top electric class after Vranckx secured the RX2e championship last season in Europe.

Vranckx will debut in an FC1-X at the Glen Helen double-header in Southern California on December 9th and 10th, 2023. A second VMV driver is set to be announced in the coming weeks. Both Vranckx and the team are eager to battle alongside the best in motorsport.

“With the unbelievable performance of the FC1-X combined with the world-class field of Group E, Nitrocross is the biggest and most exciting challenge of my career,” said Vranckx. “Nitrocross drivers are the best in the world. I consider many of them my heroes and I almost can’t believe I will have the chance to race them.”

For Vranckx and VMV, the 1,070 HP-equivalent FC1-X realizes the potential of high-performance electric vehicles. Viktor recently strapped into an FC1-X for the first time during a round of testing at iconic Höljes Motorstadion in Sweden and experienced its capabilities firsthand. “I have only spent a short time in the car so far and already I know its capabilities unreal,” said Vranckx.

VMV Racing Principal Bert Vranckx said his team is excited to take on this new challenge. “The series’ tracks, the media coverage, the festival atmosphere of the event and the social media reach make Nitrocross an unparalleled property. Nitrocross is the next evolution of motorsport and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”

The addition of VMV Racing sees Nitrocross expand its Group E roster to 15 permanent franchises across seven teams. This represents an initial investment in Group E alone exceeding $11 million USD.

Brett Clarke, Nitrocross president, said, “We welcome VMV Racing to Nitrocross and look forward to seeing Viktor in action behind the wheel in Group E. We are honored that Bert and the VMV Racing team put their faith in Nitrocross and we are excited to provide a platform for the next generation of talent, like Viktor, to take their careers to the next level.

Nitrocross 2023-24 season includes 10 rounds at venues across North America. The series showcases a variety of racing challenges, including all-season competition on pavement, dirt and even ice.

Nitrocross’ 2023-24 season kicked off in June at a transformational new track set in Oklahoma’s MidAmerica Outdoors. The track, designed specifically for the series by Pastrana, saw rising star Fraser McConnell (JAM) win his second Nitrocross trophy. Pastrana won Round 2, taking the checkered flag at the venerable Utah Motorsports Campus — the birthplace of Nitrocross. The next day, reigning 2022-23 series champion Robin Larsson returned to the top of the podium, joined by Kevin Erkisson (SWE) and Tanner Foust (USA), in front of a sold-out crowd.
