Ducati has initiated negotiations with current KTM MotoGP rider Jack Miller to possibly replace Alvaro Bautista in the upcoming World Superbike Championship, signaling a potential shift in the WSBK landscape. Bautista's future in WSBK came into question following BMW's Toprak Razgatlioglu's recent dominance, casting doubt on his bid for a third consecutive title amidst struggles to match his rookie team-mate Nicolo Bulega's performances.

Despite Bautista signaling his desire for a contract extension with Ducati at the Czech Republic round, wage demands have emerged as a significant hurdle, prompting Ducati to explore alternative options. Reports suggest that Ducati has extended an offer to Jack Miller, who faces uncertainty in MotoGP following developments at Trackhouse Racing and the imminent arrival of Ai Ogura.

“I want to continue," said Bautista when asked about the extension. "We are talking with Ducati about renewing the contract,” he said. “I think it's not fair to end my career like this. I need to enjoy the bike again, to feel strong.”

The potential move to Ducati's World Superbike team presents an intriguing prospect for Miller, a former Ducati MotoGP rider who achieved notable success during his time with the team. Miller's departure from KTM comes amidst changes within the team structure, with Ducati emerging as a potential destination offering fresh opportunities in the competitive world of World Superbikes.

With Ducati reportedly operating under a budget of around 1 million Euros for their two riders combined, considerations around rider salaries have played a pivotal role in the decision-making process. As Ducati navigates the intricate dynamics of rider contracts and team budgets, the possibility of Jack Miller joining the World Superbike grid adds a layer of anticipation to the evolving motorsport landscape.
