Marc Marquez secured another sprint race victory in the 2025 MotoGP season, finishing ahead of his brother Alex Marquez at the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen on Saturday. Despite suffering two crashes during Friday’s practice sessions, Marc managed to lead the race and extend his championship lead.

Fabio Quartararo, starting from pole position, initially held the lead after fending off Marc Marquez into the first corner, Haarbocht. The two riders made slight contact during the battle for position. However, Quartararo was overtaken by Marc at the chicane by the end of the first lap, with Alex Marquez also passing him shortly after.

Quartararo’s race continued to unravel as Marco Bezzecchi overtook him at the chicane on lap two. On lap 10, Quartararo crashed at Turn 10, Mandeveen, ending his race.

Marc and Alex Marquez maintained their positions at the front for the remainder of the race. Alex appeared to challenge Marc at times, particularly at Turn 12 Meeuwenmeer, but was unable to make a pass. Marc’s win marked another sprint race victory in a season where he has been consistently strong, except for the Silverstone sprint.

Marco Bezzecchi finished third for Aprilia, securing a podium spot after overtaking Quartararo early in the race. Francesco Bagnaia, who started on the front row, dropped back after a slow start and finished fifth. Fabio di Giannantonio, riding for VR46 Ducati, finished fourth after passing Bagnaia on lap six.

Maverick Vinales (Tech3 KTM) finished sixth, followed by Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini) in seventh. Aldeguer served a long lap penalty for exceeding track limits but maintained his position. Franco Morbidelli (VR46) finished eighth, while Pedro Acosta (KTM) was demoted from ninth to 10th due to a time penalty for track limits violations.

Marc Marquez now leads the championship by 43 points over Alex Marquez. The Dutch GP sprint race adds to Marc’s strong performance in the 2025 season. The grand prix on Sunday will provide another opportunity for riders to compete for points at Assen.
