Flatland BMX under the moonlight

A lot of innovation through the action sports industry has come in the moments and the preparations made after the inspiration for an idea strikes.

That is where it all started for the most recent Terry Adams flatland bmx stunt. Deep in the Ozark Mountains, a jutted rock ledge led to inspiration which led to Terry doing what he does best, but under the Harvest moon.

In a celebration of outdoor exploration, Terry teamed up with world renowned BMX street rider, Corey Martinez and local photographer, Jeff Rose to capture this once-a-year moment. In a state known for its world-class bike trails and outdoor recreation, Terry goes out of his element to bring the flair of Flatland BMX to the Northwest Arkansas wilderness the challenges of executing tricks in this new setting, Terry couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put his spin on the fall season with this iconic photo shoot.

“There is so much balance needed between the bike, the body and the surface you ride on,” said Adams. “To unify that with Mother Nature and the setting we did this project at, it is one that you remember a long time.”

Flatland BMX is an artistic form of cycling, similar to break dancing on a bike. Terry is highly regarded as one of the pioneers of Flatland. He is best known for manipulating his bike using a variety of techniques including speed, balance and full control of his pegs, handles and wheels to guide the bike. This year, Terry was also awarded the distinct honor of the best Flatland BMX rider of the year.

“When you watch a flatland rider in action, they look like they are floating,” said Adams. “From the moment I witnessed a rider float like that on a bike, I became obsessed. Rider of the year is special because there is so much that goes into the sport and the dedication to the craft. It is my life.”
