adidas. More than just soccer

When most people hear about the brand adidas, they think soccer. And for good reason. adidas makes some of the top tier equipment when it comes to the soccer industry.

However, they make skateboarding shoes using the same technology and engineering that goes into making a world class soccer cleat.

It was this technology that was on full display last week as adidas unveiled new gear for Major League Soccer as well as a new skateboarding shoe collaboration the Sabalo, a brand new silhouette for Spring and Summer 2019 co-designed by Diego Nájera.

adidas and Major League Soccer presented their 2019 team jerseys out of the field and on to the runway. The two houses came together to show that uniforms are not only meant for players and sports fans but can be worn from the stadium to the street and accessed by a wider style community to symbolize city identity and pride. Breaking the traditional mold in which sports uniforms reside, the showcase reinterpreted the jerseys as pieces of fashion through the vision of four emerging fashion figures.

“As a brand that puts the creator first, we couldn’t be more thrilled with the reinterpretation of this season’s MLS jerseys. Each look was pulled together through a vision unique to each stylist involved and they truly championed the idea that soccer embodies an inclusive spirit,” said Jennifer Valentine, Senior Director of adidas Soccer in North America. “Being at the epicenter of sport and culture, last night was a powerful reflection of the brand’s ethos and we look forward to continuing on this path that fuses performance with creativity.”

The same goes for their skateboarding line. adidas puts the creator first and then builds in their technology into the shoe to make a product that is going to last but also one that makes heads turn to get a second look at your kicks.

The 2019 Major League Soccer jerseys are now available for purchase on www.mlsstore.com and specialty MLS retailers across the country and the The Sabalo x Diego is now available at specialty adidas retailers worldwide and on the adidas Skateboarding website for $75 USD.
