Polaris Sweeps the Podium at KOH Desert Challenge with RZR Pro R Platform

Polaris Factory Racing Drivers Brock Heger and Max Eddy Jr. Deliver 1-2 Finishes in the RZR Pro R Factory, while Wayne Matlock Rounds out the Podium in his Modified RZR Pro R.

The 2024 UTV racing season began with the excitement of the 5th annual Desert Challenge at King of the Hammers (KOH), where Polaris Factory Racing showcased their continued dominance. Brock Heger and Max Eddy Jr. secured first and second overall UTV positions in the B3 UTV Open class, maintaining the momentum from their impressive performances in 2023.

During the event, Heger, the 2023 SCORE UTV Pro Open Champion, piloted his RZR Pro R Factory to an outstanding victory, leading wire-to-wire during the final challenge. In his debut as an official Polaris Factory Racing driver, Eddy Jr. delivered an inspiring performance, finishing second overall in his RZR Pro R Factory. The podium sweep was completed by Wayne Matlock, another Polaris racer, in his race-modified RZR Pro R.

Throughout the race, Heger demonstrated exceptional skill, setting a blistering pace and navigating the challenging Johnson Valley terrain with ease. His commanding lead led to a relatively straightforward victory. In contrast, Eddy Jr. faced a tougher journey, starting from the 14th position but showcasing his abilities by working his way through the field to secure second place.

“We wanted to pick up where we left off and get our fifth consecutive victory and our fourth consecutive UTV Overall win, and it feels pretty incredible to do exactly that at an event as significant as Hammers,” said Heger. “With this event being more of an all-out sprint, it really demonstrated the incredible power of the RZR Pro R Factory, in addition to its overall strength and reliability. This vehicle, and our entire operation, is getting more and more dialed in with every race, and after all our success, it’s pretty amazing to think that we’re still improving.”

Furthermore, Alex Scheuerell, Polaris Factory Racing Technical Director, emphasized the remarkable dominance of the RZR Pro R Factory and the validation of the platform through the podium sweep.

Looking ahead, Polaris Factory Racing remains focused on the UTV Championship Rock Race later in the week, where Heger will be driving a nearly stock RZR Turbo R. The team aims to continue its success, further showcasing the capabilities of their vehicles in the upcoming challenges.
